This Westwood, KS home had a story its floors were telling — and it wasn't a good one. The living room was covered in dated green carpet hiding the hardwood beneath. The kitchen, dining room, and entryway had original hardwood that was worn, scratched, and showing its age. Every room felt disconnected from the next.
The homeowners wanted one unified floor flowing through every room on the main level — bright, clean, and modern. That meant ripping out the carpet, extending solid red oak into the living room by lacing it seamlessly into the existing hardwood, then sanding and finishing everything together as one surface.
Tear Out, Extend, Unify
The green carpet came out first, revealing the subfloor beneath. Our team then installed solid red oak planks, carefully lacing them into the existing hardwood so the seam between old and new disappears completely.
Once the extension was complete, we sanded every floor on the main level together — kitchen, dining room, entryway, and the newly extended living room — creating one perfectly level, unified surface ready for finishing.
